I Want All The Things
I was in Chicago about a week ago which I blogged about last time. The good news is my whole trip wasn't a wardrobe catastrophe!
I planned to take full advantage of being in a city with a huge shopping selection. I had crafted a list of wants/needs, stores to hit up and a budget. I did a little shopping...
I hope the hotel maid recycled for us.
I ended up really sticking to my list and getting more "needs" than fun things that just caught my eye. However, I like marking things off of my list so it felt good. So what was in those bags...?
J. Crew The Downtown Field Jacket / Splendid Sleeveless Button Front Shirt / J. Crew Carrie Cami / Banana Republic Drawstring Bucket Crossbody bag / Banana Republic Linen Vee / Banana Republic Roll-up City Chino Short / Banana Republic Feather Drop Earring / Lululemon Energy Bras
I had been eyeing the J. Crew utility jacket since last fall and I finally decided to pull the trigger. Done. Regarding Banana Republic...although, we have a Banana in town, the one in Chicago was huge and contained a large petites section. Since I am 5'4", I am on the cusp of petite sizes. Generally, petite pants and dresses are too short for me but tops work well. I have very few tees since most, off the rack. are super long (read: not flattering on my body type). I snatched up a gray linen tee from the petites section and a pair of black shorts to replace mine that are becoming very faded.
That bucket bag. I had seen it on the Banana website a few months ago and loved it in that army green color. I knew I wanted a bucket bag but didn't want to spend too much money on one since it is more of a trend. I scored big because all handbags were 40% off! Actually, everything I got at BR that day was 30-40% off which was a big reason I bought quite a few things there.
My husband and I are pretty big workout freaks. I have been running for years but most recently we have joined a new gym. This isn't your average Gold's Gym as it's all group classes and personal training. It is the best workouts I have ever had in my life. Unfortunately, the instructor likes to keep the gym warm. Too warm for such high intensity cardio classes. So we have been burning through some workout attire. Mike got quite a few things at Lululemon but I stuck with the sports bras. I asked for ones with the most support and these have proved to be a great purchase. No girl likes blowing her wad on bras but it's a necessary evil and you might as well go for a good one.
Don't get me wrong, I wanted to buy something at almost every store I sauntered into...Nordstrom, Anthropologie, Topshop, Zara...but I had to honor the budget. Most people have a store or brand that is their weakness. So what's yours?
