How to: Wear the Color of the Year
Fall is here and so are all the sweaters, boots and scarves your little heart desires. With each changing of the season (fall and spring, anyway) there are usually some predominate colors out there. And, unless you haven't been inside a clothing store or online shopped in about three months, then you probably have noticed a common color. It's called marsala. Guys, I don't make up these names I just deliver the information. It looks something like this.
Every year, Pantone announces their main color of the year (they have several). This year it is marsala. "Who is Pantone" you may ask? Don't throw any complicated questions at me. They are the color experts in a lot of areas. That's all I know. I don't fill my brain with unnecessary information. We allow them to tell us what colors to wear each year and the stores usually follow suit (although, I gotta tell ya, Pantone color of 2014 -- Orchid-- sure couldn't find that anywhere last year). Marsala is EVERYWHERE this fall. However, you will find the red-brown toned marsala to be a range of burgundy, maroon, garnet, wine, etc. Just go with it. Here in Seminole country we are just so excited to have it all over the place and I may just call it garnet, darnit!
So now that you have your new marsala sweater or pants or whatever, what color looks good with it? Sure there's the obvious black but what other neutrals look good (or better) with it and what other colors pair nicely with this hue?

My favorite pairing is easy to find. A lot of stores have styled your marsala with blush. I love the tonal color combo and blush can be treated as a neutral. Other neutrals like gray and camel work great with the color of the year. The risk-taker pairing would be sky blue and vibrant shades of blue like ink or cobalt. I love how they look together. Which are your favorites? I'd love to see how you wear your marsala/garnet/maroon/burgundy this season!
